Handturned 16th-Century Reclaimed Oak Bowl – 175mm Wide
£49.00
Out of stock
This little bowl is packed with history. It’s hand-turned from solid oak that was reclaimed during renovations on a 16th-century farmhouse just up the road from me here in Shropshire. Knowing that this timber spent roughly 500 years as part of a local home before being given a second life on the lathe makes it incredibly special.
Because the wood is centuries old, it is absolutely rock-hard and carries a deep, rich character that you simply cannot find in modern timber. The grain patterns are tight and complex, showing off beautiful swirling knots and natural medullary rays that catch the light. At 175mm wide and 77mm high, it’s a brilliant, tactile size—perfect as a stunning centerpiece on a side table, a place to drop your keys, or quite literally, a bit of history to put your snacks in.

Good to Know
To keep this historic oak looking its best for another few centuries, just give it a quick wipe with a damp cloth or a brief wash by hand with warm, soapy water. Please don’t let it sit soaking in water or put it anywhere near a dishwasher. If the wood ever starts looking a bit dry, a quick rub with wood cream will bring that deep luster right back.
